Overview

We have been learning some new songs during the year, and we’d love to share with you what we’ve been working on, together with a selection of other great songs from our repertoire – which includes songs from Kirk Franklin, We The People, Hezekiah Walker, Anchor Hymns and more. Come for some great live music and singing, courtesy of our little choir and our great pianist Nicolas.

Expect an uplifting, informal and fun time, and to get out of your seat, clap your hands and even sing along.

The venue

St Paul’s Church on Oriental Road is our current rehearsal home, since we moved out of Christ Church for their building project. St Paul’s is less than a mile from Woking town centre, and is served by buses along Oriental Road. There’s parking available across the road in the Lion Shopping Park (2 hours free).

Inside, the church is comfortable, with full carpet and well-upholstered chairs.

The benefits, and who we’re taking donations for:

We anticipate that you’ll find the concert an uplifting, life-affirming experience – and our members testify to the positive social, emotional and psychological benefits of belonging and participating too. Singing together, joining our voices to make a sound beyond what we can achieve individually, and supporting one another as part of our little community, are positive aspects of a choir’s activity that are widely recognised. Singing together has been proven to lower cortisol, and relieve stress and tension through the release of oxytocin and endorphins. It also helps in boosting confidence, social binding and sense of community, and is a mindful activity.
Because of the impact of these benefits to mental health, we will be collecting donations for Mental Health UK. If you don’t know Mental Health UK, here’s how it describes itself:

Mental Health UK supports people at school, home, and work to build a thriving UK where good mental health is prioritised. We challenge the systems and situations that hold people back, and equip them with tools and advice to unlock their full potential. We unite the strength of four mental health charities in England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland, combining deep local knowledge with UK-wide impact to shape a better future for us all.

Together, we champion the UK’s mental health.
