Come and hear what we’ve been up to!

On Monday 11th July, we’d love to invite you to hear what we’ve been learning over the last six months or so since Woking Community Gospel Choir started.
We’re hosting a FREE performance at our usual rehearsal venue – the beautiful surroundings of The Gallery, at Christ Church, right in the middle of Woking, starting at 8.30pm and running for about an hour.

How to find us

Christ Church is at Jubilee Square, Woking GU21 6YG – the main, town centre Anglican church building. Come in the main door that faces into the square – it’ll be open because the Monday Night Jam will be running downstairs – and come up to The Gallery via the spiral stairs to your left. If you have difficulty with the stairs, speak to someone at the Monday Night Jam, and they’ll direct you to the lift: come up to the 2nd floor, and The Gallery will be signposted for you.

What To Expect

We’ll tell you a little about the choir and we’ll sing a selection of songs that we’ve been learning together. We hope that you’ll find them uplifting and that you’ll enjoy them as much as we enjoy singing them. As it’s a short, informal event, we won’t have an interval or refreshments, but the folks downstairs would be happy to sell you a drink beforehand to bring upstairs with you.

Who Are Woking Community Gospel Choir?

Good question. We’re an informal singing group, learning a range of gospel songs together because (we think) the songs are really uplifting, stirring and fun to sing. We don’t have any entry requirements: you don’t need to be a great singer, a trained musician or a music reader to join and participate, because we learn the songs by ear, through practise and with the help of some online recorded resources. The choir is run by Daren Allder who, luckily, is a trained musician, and so is our keys player, Nicolas.

Can I invite others to this?

Absolutely, yes. And don’t forget to tell them it’s FREE.
